Mandatory Wyoming Auto Insurance
In the state of Wyoming, mandatory car insurance coverage states that you only need liability coverage in the following amounts: $25,000 bodily injury per person; $50,000 bodily injury per accident in total; and $20,000 property damage per accident in total. While these amounts are amongst some of the higher mandatory limits in the country, they are still insufficient to cover the losses that could occur from a serious accident. For this reason, most insurance professionals recommend liability coverage in the following amounts: $100,000 bodily injury per person; $300,000 bodily injury per accident in total; and $100,000 property damage per accident in total.

In addition to liability coverage, it is important to consider other types of coverage to carry. Even though uninsured motorist coverage is not mandatory, it is a very wise form of insurance to carry. 10.3% of drivers in the state are uninsured, and if you were to get involved in an accident with one of these drivers, uninsured motorist coverage would be very beneficial. Underinsured motorist coverage provides for other drivers who carry lower limits that do not adequately cover losses incurred in an accident, as it makes up the difference.
Personal property damage coverage is made up of collision and comprehensive. Collision is for damage to your car resulting from at-fault accidents. Comprehensive is for damage to your car from things beyond your control, such as fire, theft, storm damage and more. While not mandated by the state, these forms are mandated by lenders if your vehicle is financed.
Other forms of car insurance worth considering include personal injury protection to assist with medical expenses arising from car accidents; rental car reimbursement when your vehicle is unusable; and towing and labor coverage when you need roadside assistance.
